The 2017 Junior National Mogul Championships “jNats”, took place last Sunday in great conditions at Mt Buller, featuring a strong field delivering some fantastic mogul skiing on the Chamois ski run.
With 98 athletes entered to compete in the event from Mt Buller, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek, the competition for podium positions was always going to be fierce.
Two divisions were on offer, with the Junior category for skiers 19 and under and the Youth category for under 13. Bounce Inc provided prize money for the winners and Bolle giving goggles for all podium athletes.
In the Junior division, Angus Cronin-Guss was the standout athlete in the men’s event with a strong performance to record a clear victory. Paris Speirs and Eleanor Mullins had a close battle in the women’s division, with Paris taking the win.
In the Youth category, Edward Hill put down an impressive first run to hold off Mt Hotham competitors Tristan Rowley and Will Atwell. Indi Speirs made it a double women’s victory for the Speirs family with first place in the Youth women’s division.
Special recognition was also given to under 10 women’s competitors Lucy Butler and Esther Foley who qualified for the top-15 final against older athletes.
Congratulations also to the Hill Family with all three children winning medals on the day.
Many thanks to event sponsors Bounce Inc, Bolle and Buller Ski Lifts for their great support.
