Published Wed 12 Apr 2023

After a three-year hiatus, the Whistler Cup is back this week celebrating the 30th anniversary of the event which has seen the likes of Mikaela Shiffrin, Lindsay Vonn and Marcel Hirscher compete as juniors at the famed Canadian resort.

Participating in the under 16 category will be Australian skiers Zali Summerauer, Tiffany Gorman, Katerina Brennan, Katharina Kwan, Edward Selig and Harrison Moller.

The athletes will live and train together under the oversight of Snow Australia Alpine Director, Shawn Fleming and Head Coach Jan Vokaty from Perisher Winter Sports Club.

The under 14 group will join the under 16s in training with Silvia Prieler coaching the boys and Fleming coaching the girls. The under 14 athletes participating for Australia are Tana Dixon, Henry Woon, Ariella Redwin and Jessica Gorman.

While the under 16 skiers battle for the coveted Whistler Cup with over 20 nations represented at the event, under 14s get a taste of international competition at the Whistler Cup Festival.

The 2023 Whistler Cup starts on Thursday and runs through to Sunday with athletes competing in super G, giant slalom, slalom and the mixed team parallel event.
