Junior XC stars ready for Nationals showdown

Perisher plays host to this weekend’s Australian Junior Cross Country National Championships as men and women from U12 through to U20 look to impress on the big stage.
Fresh off last weekend’s Australian Cross Country National Championships, Nic Blackwell and Will Middlemiss are showing strong form ahead of their respective races.
While Darcie Morton is placed strongly to defend both her 2017 sprint and distance titles but will receive strong competition from Phoebe Cridland in the distance race.
This Saturday, the Classic Sprint event will test athlete’s speed and agility with a potential 1,200 metre course depending on race day conditions.
Sprint competitors will begin with qualification rounds before progressing through quarter-finals and semi-finals to the finals if their times allow.
While on Sunday, the Freestyle Distance event will examine athlete’s endurance ability with course lengths ranging from 1.5km in the U12 division to 7.5km in the Men’s U20 division.
