Kat Paul named an AIS Thrive with Pride Ambassador

For the second year in a row, cross country skier Kat Paul has been named as an Australian Institute of Sport Thrive with Pride Ambassador.

The 2024 ambassadors were released today which marks IDAHOBIT - the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. May 17 is the chosen date for IDAHOBIT as it marks 24 years since homosexuality was removed from the World Health Organisation’s Classification of Diseases, however there is still much work to be done to champion inclusion throughout society.

The Thrive with Pride program aims to support rainbow athletes and allies with driving LGBTIQ+ inclusion initiatives within Australian sporting communities so we can help celebrate and empower LGBTIQ+ peoples.

In 2024, athlete ambassadors will look to undertake LGBTIQ+ competency education sessions from inclusion experts and work with their chosen sporting organisation to run an LGBTIQ+ engagement.

Other opportunities include monthly sessions featuring LGBTIQ+ sporting guests and peoples, and the opportunity to be involved in key LGBTIQ+ community engagement events.

"I am proud to once again be part of the AIS Thrive with Pride program," said Paul.

"My commitment remains steadfast in advocating for and nurturing inclusivity within the sports community, both within high performance and community sport, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their identity, feels welcomed and valued."
