Matt Cox in the big air final of the Cardrona World Cup

Published Fri 23 Aug 2019

Matt Cox has qualified for the final of the FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Cardrona (NZL).

Competing against 35 athletes from 16 nations, the 21-year-old scored an impressive 76.50 points on his qualification run, which landed him a top five finish.

Cox will now go head to head against the top 10 qualifiers, with competition brought forward to Saturday due to the changing conditions.

While hopes are high that a fitting finals will be able to go down, there is the distinct possibility that those qualification results may have to stand in as official results should finals not be possible.

Look out for Aussie free skiers Abi Harrigan, Cam Waddell and Bailey Johnson who are also in Cardrona to compete at ANC park and pipe events.
