Clean sweep for McAdam at Perisher Alpine National Championships

As the Australian snow season winds down, Perisher hosted the National Championships and National Junior Championships on Tuesday 10 – Wednesday 11 September.
Aussie youngster Hugh McAdam took out all four races, winning both slalom and giant slalom disciplines.

McAdam said that the great conditions in Perisher made for some sensational racing.
“It was close, but I managed to ski well and I’m very happy with the results,” McAdam said.
Starting among a field of 24 athletes in the Giant Slalom, McAdam continued to improve over day one, stopping the clock at 1:52:59 in the NC race and 1:43:68 in the NJC.
Fellow Aussies Jack Adams and Warwick Crawford finished second and third, respectively in both the NC and NJC races.
McAdam remained consistent in the Slalom races on day two of competition, posting a time of 1:14:04 in the NC and 1:18:21 in the NJC event.
Jack Adams and Warwick Crawford again took out second and third place in the National Junior Slalom Championship, but Japanese athlete Ryoma Katayama snuck in to take out second place in the National Championship race ahead of NZ athlete Sam Hadley.
Aussie Lily Tomkinson dominated the women’s competition, winning three out of the four races in both the slalom and giant slalom disciplines.
Kendra Etherton managed to clock the quickest total time in the women’s Slalom race in the National Junior Championships.
