National Discipline Committee EOI Sought

The Board of Snow Australia has ultimate accountability for competitive snowsports outcomes at all levels of the athlete pathway.
As a result of sustained organic growth, including the recent unification of our sport, Snow Australia has been able to increase its resources for the overall management and communication of all its athlete pathways. This includes employment of professional program and discipline specific staff who take on responsibility for the day to day operation and management of the pathways.
Earlier this year, the Board undertook a review of the governance structure of our disciplines, particularly the Snow Australia Discipline Committees (NDCs), to ensure that they continued to provide the appropriate efficiency, expertise and input together with the connection and communication to the community they ultimately serve.
Snow Australia has routinely required its NDCs to undergo a process of assessment and “freshening up” to ensure there is an appropriate mix of skills and experience to deliver the strategic objectives of the organisation.
By and large, the performance of the existing Snow Australia NDCs has been stable and effective. In summary, the Review concluded the need for:
- more event-specific NDC’s, especially Park & Pipe, to better reflect pathway groupings;
- a realignment of responsibilities of the NDC’s to be more in the nature of advisory to complement the increase in professional staff and expertise at Snow Australia;
- a freshening up of NDC memberships to ensure appropriate expertise, community connection and if possible, better gender balance.
The review and associated recommendations can be found here.
Snow Australia now seeks Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitable individuals willing to be appointed to the following Snow Australia National Discipline Committees:
- National Alpine Committee
- National Cross-Country Committee
- National Freestyle Committee (Moguls)
- National Park & Pipe Committee (Ski & Snowboard)
- National Snowboard Committee (SBX & SBD Alpine)
While performance outcomes are a core goal for the Committee, applicants with skills, interest and connections to the broader sections of the athlete pathway are also encouraged to apply.
Snow Australia particularly encourages applications from Women in the Snowsport community in order to ensure appropriate gender balance across the NDC’s.
A structural overview of the Snow Australia Discipline Committees are set out in the updated Snow Australia Discipline Committee Terms of Delegation document which includes:
- Roles of the Snow Australia Discipline Committees;
- Committee membership indicative criteria;
- Committee membership composition and selection procedures;
