Snow Australia is excited to announce a new Junior FIS National Snowboard Cross Series, coming to the 2022 domestic snow season across multiple resorts.
It will be the first Junior FIS National Series to be held in Australia and provides an ideal development opportunity for the next generation of snowboard cross athletes.
Developing SBX racers will go head-to-head across four rounds in the series, held at Thredbo, Mt Buller, Hotham and Perisher Ski Resorts.
Snow Australia’s Sport Development Coordinator Johnny Lipzker said Snow Australia is excited to offer this new competitive series to up-and-coming athletes, as the structure and level of competition provides a valuable learning opportunity for those athletes aspiring to take their riding to the next level.
“The new Junior FIS National SBX series offers an exciting opportunity for developing SBX athletes to gain competition experience and FIS points during our Australian domestic season,” Lipzker said.
“The series will act as a stepping stone to the international high-performance pathway.
“Strong results in these Junior FIS events may assist athletes in meeting event criteria for potential selection in Europa Cup Events and Junior World Championships in the international season.”
The series will be open to SBX athletes aged between 15 and 19 (on 31 December 2022) and all athletes will need to hold a Snow Australia National Racer Membership - Membership - Snow Australia
