new Snowracer website launched!

SSA’s Snowracer website has received a facelift in time for winter and is now live with Australian snowsports events!
With over 100 ski and snowboard competitions and events planned across five alpine resorts this winter, Snowracer.com.au is the premiere source for all your snowsports event information.
The new website will now have the most up to date snowsports event information and registration, as well as live results and live scoring, upgraded recreational snowsports insurance cover and snow fitness information.
“As any parent of a budding young athlete knows, it can be a mine field to find information about upcoming events and locate results once the events are over.” Said Michael Kennedy, SSA CEO.
“Add to this the uncertainty of when their child is due to be in the start gate, it can be a discouraging exercise.” He said.
With Snowracer.com.au finding information about snow sport events and registration is easier than ever before.
Athletes and parents will have access to real time event information and start lists, with live results as they happen. Mum will know exactly when her son is on the race course. Dad can keep track of his daughter's scores online from anywhere in the world.
Victorian father of two children competing in Interschools this year, Matt Watkins, praised the idea of a centralised event website that brings together the efforts of the resorts, clubs and event organisers.
“I used the live timing last year during a test phase on the old website and it was great to know where and when my kids were competing.” Watkins said.
“When the fields are really big, it can be chaotic trying to get to the start gate at the right time so not to miss their run. There’s so much waiting around when you could be skiing the mountain and you can do that with the live timing system. I’m looking forward to using it in full this season.”
The new Snowracer will give family and friends the ability to be actively engaged in Australian winter sport events, whether as a spectator standing on the side of a course or as a viewer back at home.
A key element making it possible to track competitors results via the live timing system is an athlete’s SnowID that gives all competitors a unique identification number. Over the last four years all Interschools participants have received a SnowID and SSA are working in partnership with race organisers to ensure all competitive snowsports participants have a Snow ID going forward. In time, this will build a results archive where athletes can see their race history in a centralised location – similar to the FIS website.
Snowracer will continue to offer free competition insurance for non-medical expenses to the value of $500, covering items such as entry fees, lift tickets, lost accommodation or car repatriation. However, after reviewing feedback from the Snowracer membership, SSA is also introducing Snowracer Gold in 2017. Snowracer Gold is an optional insurance upgrade for recreational skiing and snowboarding, travel and salary protection. SSA has worked closely with the insurance providers to develop a customized insurance product, which is relevant to Australian ski and snowboard families whether competing or not.
