Nominations Opening For Emerging Talent Program
Published Fri 24 Feb 2023
Nominations for Snow Australia’s Emerging Talent Program (ETP) will open 1 - 24 March for athletes looking to join the 2023/24 cohort.
The ETP is an important aspect of Snow Australia’s Performance Pathway, designed to identify, support and enhance the development of emerging athletes through targeted performance camps, off-snow training initiatives, performance education services and mentor programs.
Several ETP alumni have progressed through the Performance Pathway to ultimately represent Australia at benchmark events such as World Championships and the Winter Olympic Games, including Snowboard Park & Pipe Crystal Globe champion Valentino Guseli and Youth Olympic Games Champion and World Cup gold medallist Josie Baff
Snow Australia invites pathways clubs and coaches to nominate or re-nominate athletes who they believe possess the qualities and potential to progress in their respective discipline pathway.
Snow Australia’s Performance Health and Talent Manager, Ben Bond, said that although the COVID-19 Pandemic provided challenges for pathways athletes over the past couple of years, the ETP is entering an exciting new phase.
“It goes without saying that the last two or three years have provided challenges for our pathway athletes, with some athletes having more opportunity to train and develop than others. However, we’ve almost had two international seasons and a domestic season relatively uninterrupted, and now have a really good understanding of those coming through in the pathway,” Bond said.
“We have collaborated closely with our Pathway Clubs and Coaches to share frameworks on Talent Identification and Development, and I’m really confident our Pathway Clubs are well equipped to have discussions with athletes and parents around what it takes to progress to the high performance level in their sport, which will only drive the talent development further.
“We encourage snowsports clubs, coaches and staff to nominate athletes who are on the cusp of the high performance pathway as they can greatly benefit from the exciting programs and initiatives we have in the ETP.”
Nominations for the 2023/24 ETP cohort can be submitted by any of the following:
• Pathway Club Coach/Director
• National Team Development Coach / Head Coach
• National Discipline Committee Member
• Snow Australia Performance Health & Talent Manager
• Snow Australia Performance Pathway & Program Manager

Announcement of the 2023/24 cohort will be in the first week of May, with the annual Talent Development Camp scheduled for early June.
