NSTC January Update
Published Thu 02 Feb 2023
Welcome back to 2023 at the NSTC!
As we gear up to what will be a very exciting year at the NSTC we would like to thank everyone who has supported the facility over the last 12 months. It has been great to welcome community members along with emerging and high-performance athletes and their coaches and see the progression and enjoyment they are all experiencing.
The plans for the next 12 months are well and truly in motion and will ensure that the facility will become World’s Best in the sport which will only enhance to benefit the next generation of athletes.
In our first week back of operations, we hosted private air bag sessions for Canadian Freeski skier Megan Oldham. Megan had just come off the back of a World Cup podium in December securing 1st place in Freeski Big Air at Copper Mountain. Megan spent a week training at the NSTC Park before heading back to the USA where she competed at the X-Games in Aspen and won gold in both the Ski Big Air and Ski Slopestlye. Megan won the Ski Big Air with a triple cork which was not only a world’s-first for women’s skiing but also the first time any woman had landed a triple cork in a contest, ski or snowboard. We witnessed Megan attempt this trick multiple times during her time at the NSTC so imagine our excitement to watch her land her run and receive a perfect score!! Congratulations Megan from all of us at the NSTC.
Billy Lloyd-Blainey (XTM Performance Rider) and Daisy Thomas (NSWIS) have also completed a training block at the NSTC Park during early January in preparation before heading off overseas and taking what they have learnt and practiced at the airbag onto snow.
It was great to have these athletes at the NSTC and see their progression during the training time with us and we wish them all the best for the remainder of the Northern Hemisphere season.
Community sessions are back in full swing and it has been awesome to see some local families make use of the facility during the school holidays. We have added some additional Sunday sessions into the schedule for those community members who can't get here during the week. Keep an eye on the schedule for when the Sunday sessions are available to book.
Due to popular demand, our 10 Pack Community Pass has been extended and is available to purchase for only $400 (valued at $600). The 10 Pack Community Pass gives you access to all community sessions and is valid until 31 March (conditions apply). For more information and to purchase the 10 Pack Community Pass go to the Snow Australia website.
Looking forward to seeing you at the NSTC!
