NSTC Update – Building progress and a key appointment to new Operations and Program Manager role

The development of the National Snowsports Training Centre (NSTC) in Jindabyne continues, with the works to upgrade and expand the main building going full steam ahead.
Designs for the new NSTC Park clubhouse are well and truly underway as are the plans to install a new start tower for the Development Air Bag.
With the crucial relocation of some of the power infrastructure now completed and the building upgrade and extension now well underway, the latest timeline suggests a March 2023 completion date.
The Winter sessions proved hugely popular with members of the local community, program athletes and international teams.
“The NSTC Park was extremely busy over Winter. We also had a number of international teams training at the park, including athletes from Canada, New Zealand, Great Britain and USA,” explained Jason Clauscen, who has been recently appointed as Operations and Program Manager at the NSTC.
Having been involved in the snowsports industry as a snowboard instructor or coach for over 25 years, the former Snow Australia Development Coach of the Year has vast experience supporting the development of junior athletes.
“I am very happy to be back working with Snow Australia, where there are so many people I have known and worked with over the years,” Clauscen said.
“The NSTC is an exciting development and I am really looking forward to working with so many people that are supporting the vision to make it one of the best training and development facilities in the world.”
In his new role, Clauscen will be involved with the day-to-day management and operations of the NTSC facilities, focusing on the airbag and acrobatics components. He will also work closely with the community, high performance and pathway programs both domestically and internationally to coordinate the usage of the facility.
“During the winter the NSTC hosted training sessions for Olympic Champions like freestyle skier Eileen Gu and snowboarder Anna Gasser, which is a testament to the world-leading nature of our training facility,” he said.
Our Australian Winter Olympic athletes also enjoyed the opportunity of training at the NTSC, with Tess Coady, Valentino Guseli and Abi Harrigan all using the airbags during the winter, along with athletes from other pathway programs such as the NSWIS Winter Sports program and Snow Australia’s Emerging Talent Program.
“Over the coming months we will look to promote more sessions that cater to the community and development programs. I’m really looking forward to more people coming out to see the site and look forward to what the future brings,” Clauscen said.
As works are still on track for completion in early 2023, Snow Australia will continue delivering safety upgrades to the site and focus on the new NSTC Park clubhouse, which will provide check-in facilities, lockers, change rooms and video review areas for users of the NSTC Park.
