NSW Alpine Awards Wrap Up
Published Mon 05 Nov 2018
The NSW & ACT Alpine Awards were held on 3 November, with a record attendance of families traveling interstate from ACT and QLD to be present.
Snowboarder and Paralympian Joany Badenhorst delivered an outstanding talk and had the audience upbeat and in stitches as she navigated her pathway from the time she lost her leg to her last appearance at the Paralympics in South Korea.
Sarah Brennan, President TSRC, joined us to present our awards to the FIS athletes. In addition, the inaugural award for Service to NSW & ACT Alpine was presented to David Chrystal for his longstanding commitment and service to the discipline.
Chairman of NSW & ACT Alpine, Patrick Heller, opened the night and thanked the community, NSW & ACT Alpine committee members, board members of NSWS and SACT, in particular Steve Cooper, Donna Bakker and Daniel Bosco, along with the army of volunteers for their support to the sport.
Patrick also acknowledged the work of SSA staff Mick Branch, Rebecca Clark and Shawn Fleming for their work on building a national elite athlete pathway for Alpine ski racing following the Alpine and Ski Cross Review and Road Map published earlier in the year.
