A number of Olympians and world class coaches will converge on Mt Hotham this weekend to offer their expertise to the next generation of snowboard riders.

As part of the SSA Futures program, approximately 60 advanced boarders from 9-19 years of age will be guided through on and off snow sessions as develop their current skills.

PyeongChang Olympic silver medalist Jarryd Hughes and fellow Olympians Alex Pullin, Cameron Bolton, Adam Lambert and Belle Brockhoff will be joined by OWIA and NSWIS coaches for the two-day program, ahead of Monday’s Australian New Zealand Cup SBX races.

The sessions introduce athletes to ‘what it takes’ to become an elite athlete through a holistic approach.

Athletes will learn about skills such as technical, jump and start gate training, side by side racing, education, tactical preparation and equipment set up.

Ski and Snowboard Australia’s SBX Head Coach Jason Clauscen says the program offers aspiring junior athletes with a great opportunity to develop in a high performance environment.

“Athletes will be coached by Australian National Team members and NSWIS Athletes, providing them with an opportunity to ask these athletes direct questions about their experiences and journey.

“The younger athletes will also have the opportunity to meet fellow SBX riders from all over the country and ride with new friends,” he said.
