One week down at FIS Freeski & Snowboard Junior World Championships

Published Fri 31 Aug 2018

WEEK ONE

It has officially been one week since the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Junior World Championships began in Cadrona, New Zealand.

The event commenced with an opening ceremony in front of a stunning Lake Wanaka and included a haka performance by the local primary school.

A total of 15 Australian athletes have already competed at the Championships and have been met by highly technical courses demanding the athlete's very best to survive progress from the qualification finals.

The Cadrona weather hasn't always been kind to event organisers, with multiple events having to be rescheduled or canceled due to persistent fog.

Australia's Snowboard Cross rider Emily Boyce (4th) and Ski Cross athletes Douglas Crawford (4th) and Robbie Morrison (5th) narrowly missed out on podium positions in their respective finals in a highlight for the junior team.
