Welcome back Park and Pipe Community to our first update of the year!

The season is in full swing for our Aussie Park and Pipe athletes, with great anticipation for the upcoming World Championships in March. As the team selections are fast approaching, our athletes have been scattered across the globe gaining great competition experience and achieving fantastic results.

Recent competitions have seen great results for Ally Hickman coming 10th in Snowboard Slopestyle at the Laax World Cup in January this year. Followed closely by fellow Aussie Mela Stalker in 14th! Additionally, at the same event, our very own Scotty James claimed GOLD in Men’s Snowboard Halfpipe. Scotty James has also just made history by becoming the first male snowboarder to win 4 consecutive X Games gold medals in Halfpipe, as he claimed his 4th win on the 24th of January in Aspen, Colorado.

Our Aussie Halfpipers have not had a break. Amelie Haskell placed 13th at the Aspen World Cup in the Women’s Snowboard category, and young-gun Indra Brown placed 4th at the Nor-Am Cup in Copper Mountain and stood on top of the podium earlier this month in Aspen as she took home GOLD in Women’s Freeski Halfpipe. More smashing results from Indra as she also placed 4th and 2nd in Freeski Slopestyle at Copper Mountain and Aspen respectively.

NSWIS Athlete Joey Elliss has also had some great runs so far this season placing 5th in the European Cup Freeski Slopestyle at La Clusaz, France, and 5th again in Freeski Big Air in Davos, Switzerland. Aidan Laing also competed at the Davos Freeski Big Air event, placing 11th! Daisy Thomas made the top 10 placing 8th at the World Cup held in Kreischberg, Austria once again in Freeski Big Air. An amazing effort by all athletes!

Keen to watch an event again? All World Cup replays and event schedules can be found on the SnowLive website.

This week we will see many more Aussies competing at World Cup events in both Calgary and Stoneham, Canada. It is especially exciting to see Tess Coady making her return to competition in the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle event, be sure to tune in through SnowLive to cheer Tess and all of our Aussie Athletes on!

Back in Australia, there is more happening at the NSTC in Jindabyne this weekend with Open Day occurring on the 22nd of February. A great opportunity to experience the facilities, the day will host free Airbag and Acro sessions for all ages and skill levels. Read the article below for more details on the upcoming Open Day.

Once again, congratulations to all of our Park and Pipe Athletes on their recent results and for getting out there and competing. Best of luck for the upcoming events!
