Park and Pipe Community Update - November 2024
Published Thu 21 Nov 2024
Dear Park and Pipe Community,
As the 2024-25 World Cup season begins to pick up, our Aussie Park and Pipe athletes will make the journey north for the Stubai Freeski Slopestyle, Beijing Freeski and Snowboard Big Air and Secret Garden Snowboard Halfpipe World Cups.
First up will be Daisy Thomas this weekend competing in Austria at the Stubai Freeski Slopestyle World Cup. This will be Daisy’s first World Cup for the season and her first action since her silver medal performance at this years’ Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon.
You can follow along with the action at Stubai on SnowLive from 9:30pm (AEDT) on Saturday 23rd November.
Following Stubai, our athletes head to Beijing, China for the second Big Air event of the season. Valentino Guseli, Joshua Robertson-Hahn and Mela Stalker will compete in the Snowboard World Cup with Joey Elliss making his World Cup debut in the freeski event.
The Snowboard Halfpipe World Cup Season will kick off at Secret Garden, China in December with Scotty James looking to defend his win in China last season. Scotty will be joined in the pipe by Valentino Guseli, alongside Misaki Vaughan in the womens competition.
The times and streaming links for Beijing and Secret Garden will be released shortly on SnowLive so stay tuned so that you can watch Australia’s athletes contest for gold!
Announced in this monthly newsletter are the Park and Pipe National Team and National Development Team. Highlted by Olympians Scotty James, Valentino Guseli and Tess Coady, read on to see which athletes were selected to represent Australia heading into the thick of the 2024-25 Northern season.
Also covered in this discipline newsletter is the recent restructuring of the Snow Australia National Discipline Committees (NDCs). After an extensive review and a call for expressions of interest to the Park and Pipe community, the Snow Australia board has appointed committee and conference members for the Park and Pipe NDC. You can read more about the National Discipline Committee review and meet the members of the Park & Pipe Committee in the article below.
There has been a lot of activity at the NSTC recently with members of the NSWIS Park & Pipe Team spending time at the facility training over the past couple of weeks (read the article below for more details). This activity continues with the NSTC hosting the Park and Pipe ETP camp over the next two weekends. Lead by expert coaches and staff our emerging athletes will use all the NSTC has offer with time on the airbags, in the acro centre and training in the high-performance gym. We look forward to hearing about the development of the ETP athletes over the coming weeks.
Best of luck to all those competing, we look forward to seeing some strong Aussie results.
