Hotham kicked off the FIS ANC & National Championship SBX for 2016 starting with qualifying runs for Groms, Ladies and Men categories held on Friday 5 August with an amazing turn out from all.
The sun was shining which had all our competitors excited and nervous, and as the day went on we saw excellent sportsmanship from all of our competitors.
Finals were held on Saturday 6 August and we had our favourite commentator Richie Biggins back to share all the thrills and spills with his entertaining commentating along with accomplished Skier X athlete, Katya Crema.
Hotham’s very own Alex ‘Chumpy’ Pullin performed extremely well and took out both the Men’s FIS ANC SBX first place & FIS SBX National Championship first place. Another very talented Australian Champion Belle Brockhoff also took out both the Ladies FIS ANC SBX first place & FIS SBX National Championship first place.
In our Female Grom 1 Division we saw all of the hard training pay off with all our competitors but Aussie young gun Mia Clift took out both Race 1 & Race 2 in the Hotham SBX Festival 2016 and came out on top.
Josie Baff claimed the win for Grom 2 Female Division in both Race 1 & Race 2 in the Hotham SBX Festival 2016.
The talent showed in both our Grom 1 & 2 events was impeccable and I am sure all coaches and parents were extremely proud of all competitors. Will McCarthy claimed a first place for both Grom 1 Races in the Hotham SBX Festival 2016 while Finn Sadler performed extremely well in the Grom 2 Division coming away with first places for both Race 1 & Race 2.
Overall the event went extremely well and we are already looking forward to holding the FIS Alpine races on August 22. Come along and check out some of the world & Australia’s best athletes compete at Mt Hotham.
