Ski & Snowboard Australia (SSA) continues its commitment to promote education and opportunity for Alpine athletes through the provision of its Physical Preparation & Testing Clinics in 2017.
SSA has partnered with High Performance provider, Precision Athletica to deliver these Clinics. Precision has a team of Exercise Physiologists, Strength & Conditioning experts, Sports Physiotherapists, Sports Nutritionists and Performance coaches that offer world’s best practice in assessment, analysis, education and conditioning.
The October clinics will be more closely aligned with SSA’s framework of Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) where physical literacy, training to improve athleticism, and sport skill development are vital to produce optimal athletic potential. Fundamentally, this means learning proper techniques for agility, balance, coordination, flexibility, power, reaction time, speed, strength, and endurance. Since individual athletes develop at different rates, a key pillar of LTAD is providing the optimal training, competition and recovery programming at each stage of biological development and maturation. LTAD is about doing the right things at each level of development that will most likely lead the skier or rider to their full potential in the long run.
Education is another pillar of long-term athletic development. For athletes, coaches and families this means understanding how to fuel your body for success; how to recover from training and competition well; how to manage the balance between sport & life; staying focused, motivated and committed; and taking personal responsibility.
