At just 16 years old, Mia has competed on the world stage multiple times, recently at the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, and said that her journey to competing in international competitions is one that has delivered plenty of challenges but lots of rewards as well.

“My journey has been fun, exciting, and challenging but going to Switzerland for the Winter Youth Olympic Games makes every good and bad time seem worth it,” Mia said.

“I grew up skiing at a small resort in Australia called Selwyn Snowfields and when I was 12 I did my first season at Perisher - this is where I saw the park and fell in love with the idea of jumping,” she said.

Rennie was one of the athletes who was saddened to see how the recent bushfires impacted her childhood ski resort, Selwyn Snowfields, sharing memories of happier days gone by.

The Freestyle skier attributes her successes from there to her coach Leon Tarbotton.

“After that season at Perisher, I joined Perisher Winter Sports Club where I met my current coach Leon,” Rennie said.

“I slid my first rails and hit my first jumps that year and it’s been an amazing experience since then travelling, making memories and learning with him,” she said.

Favourite place to ski

Livigno, Italy - the village is super cute and the park is always so good, I’ve had some of my best days skiing there

Favourite jump and rail trick

Favourite jump trick is my bio 720 with a Japan grab. I really want to work on getting a mute grab with it too. I prefer jumps over rails any day but I do love a good switch 270 on - when it goes well it feels so good

Favourite thing to do when not skiing

Art or eat...or both at the same time! I love to paint and draw.
