Snow Australia is pleased to announce that the FIS JNR SBX Series, powered by the Chumpy Pullin Foundation, is back in 2024 for the third straight year.
In a discipline which continues to produce stars taking on the world, Australia’s leading young snowboard cross competitors will have the opportunity to contest three huge events as part of the series this season:
- Wednesday 14 August - Mt Hotham
- Wednesday 28 August - Thredbo
- Thursday 29 August - Thredbo
- September TBC - Perisher (snow condition dependant)
With points awarded across all events, the eventual male and female winners of the Series will take home the coveted Chumpy Pullin Trophy and the title of national champion.
“Snowboard cross is not only one of the most exciting disciplines we see across all snowsports, it is also one in which Australia continues to produce talent,” said Johnny Lipzker, Snow Australia’s Program Operations and Sport Development Coordinator.
“An athlete like James Johnstone has come through the series and gone on to win a Junior World Championship as well as being top five in the Europa Cup standings last season.
“Mia Clift went on to win the FIS Snowboard Cross female rookie of the year last season while Lara Walsh represented Australia at the Youth Olympic Games.
“In just a couple of years it has already become really exciting to see the calibre of racing these young athletes are being exposed to, and if they can be competitive here, they can be competitive at a global level.”
The FIS JNR SBX Series is open to SBX athletes aged between 15 and 19 (on 31 December 2024).
