Seeking EOI for Physical Literacy Pilot Program
Published Mon 20 Jan 2020
Snow Australia is seeking expressions of interest from club athletes born between 2004 to 2008 to participate in a Snow Australia Physical Literacy 8-week pilot program. This program will be held at Precision Athletica, Sydney Olympic Park in Term 1, starting 3rd of February 2020.
Snow Australia recognises the importance of implementing progressive athletic development frameworks to assist with athletic development along the Snowsports Athlete Pathway. To assist our community with raising the level of sport-specific skills, Snow Australia is currently developing a physical literacy program in conjunction with Precision Athletica (https://www.precisionathletica.com.au/). This program will be designed to support our Affiliated Clubs and Pathway Providers, Schools, Coaches and Athletes to improve the foundational movement skills, to aid individual athlete preparation and development on and off snow.
Precision Athletica is a high-performance provider which specialise in world’s best practice in assessment, analysis and physical performance to Australia’s future elite athletes. Their expert team provides world leading service in physiotherapy, exercise physiology, strength and conditioning, sport science, biomechanics, dietetics and nutrition and sports psychology.
To ensure our physical literacy program works effectively and efficiently for our athletes, Precision Athletica will be running an internal pilot program in the first semester of school. Athletes will be working with top physiotherapists who have developed a Snowsports specific physical literacy program, to increase the level of the fundamental movement skills and knowledge, as well as physically and mentally prepare them for the season ahead. This program has been developed to assist with on-snow development, with the aim to roll-out nation-wide by 2021. Spaces are limited.
