ALPINE SKIING: Australia’s leading alpine skier Greta Small has continued her return from injury after competing at the St Moritz World Cup over the weekend.
Small, who is on track to make her second Winter Olympic appearance come February, lined up in the women’s Super G on Saturday.
Skiing against the world’s best, Small claimed 46th in the field of 60 with a time of 1:05.56.
"I was satisfied with some of my skiing on Saturday’s Super G but still mistakes on a couple turns cost me a lot of time and too much direction over the finish jump had me landing close to the netting losing time," said Small.
It was home town favourite Jasmine Flury of Switzerland who claimed the victory with a time of 1:02.59 ahead of teammate Michelle Gisin and Liechtenstein’s Tina Wierather.
Looking to get more time on the snow following her recent return from an ACL injury, Small was no doubt disappointed when the weekend's other events were cancelled due to inclement weather.
"Both Friday’s and Sunday’s races were cancelled due to extremely thick fog," continued Small.
"It is disappointing not to race when the track is in great condition but it’s good to see safety of the athletes comes first."
Small will next be competing at the Val di Fassa Europa Cup race.
