Snow Australia congratulates four-time Winter Olympian and World Champion Britt Cox on her remarkable moguls career, as the 27-year-old announced her retirement from professional sport this week.

After twelve years competing on the international stage, Cox hangs up the ski boots with nine World Cup victories, the 2016/17 moguls and overall freestyle World Cup titles, two World Championships medals and four Olympic Games appearances.

“It is with much excitement, emotion, love and gratitude that I announce my retirement from competitive mogul skiing,” Cox said on social media this week.

“This was a really tough decision to make because I absolutely love the sport, the competition and the people - but I’ve recently felt a pull towards other passions that I’m excited to pursue.

“Whilst I’m hanging up my competitive ski boots, I will remain closely involved in the world of sport as I chase my dreams of communicating the amazing stories and lessons that sport has for us all through the media, as well as mentoring young athletes.

“There are far too many people to thank for the roles they have played in my career… But for now I just want to say thanks to the sport for being my love from the very beginning, for giving me dreams and purpose, for teaching me the value of hard work, effort and resilience, for showing me the world and the amazing people that exist within it, for giving me a whole extra family and for helping me discover my true values.”

The Falls Creek local competed in her first FIS event at Mt Buller in 2004, and made her Olympic debut at just 15 years of age at Vancouver 2010, where she placed 23rd.

She became the first Australian women to win the crystal globe in moguls following seven victories and two 3rd places in the 2016/17 season, plus won the World Championships crown the same year.

Cox placed 5th at the PyeongChang 2018 and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games. She entered a small, elite group of Australian Olympians when she lined up for her 4th Games at Beijing 2022, placing 14th.

Aside from her remarkable results and podium performances, Cox is well known for her hard work and dedication to the sport, and for nurturing the next generation of freestyle athletes.

Dedicating so much of her time to mentoring the next generation, Cox’s moguls legacy will live on long after her final ski run.

Olympic Champion aerials skier, Alisa Camplin, took to social media to congratulate Britt on her career

“An epic human and an unbelievable mogul career,” Camplin wrote. “You are amazing Britt Cox and we love and celebrate you as you move onto your next adventures in life.

“You are so incredibly professional, courageous and inspiring and Australian winter sport is really going to miss having you around day to day.”

We congratulate Britt on her fantastic career and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
