Snow Australia is excited to announce a Park & Pipe Talent Verification Camp for late September 2022.
With a new Olympic cycle commencing, along with the operation of the world-class National Snowsports Training Centre Airbag, it provides the opportunity for Australia’s Park & Pipe System to review all athletes within the Performance Pathway as well as verify talent for scholarship, program, and investment in the sport.
This camp aims to profile the all-around capability of the 2022 Emerging Talent Program Park & Pipe athletes along with New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Scholarship Holders from the past Olympic Cycle (2019-2022) enabling informed, evidence-based judgements regarding Talent Identification and Development for programs.
Experts, including past athletes and world-class technical analysts, will be working to profile athletes across physical capability, fundamental skills on snow, technical capability on snow, acrobatic ability, intangible qualities, and rate of progression.
While past and current competition results will be taken into consideration, there will be a heavy focus on capturing data across the above domains to correlate closely to future potential in their sport.
Snow Australia’s Performance Health & Talent Manager, Ben Bond, said: “It is exciting that the sport is now in a position to be able to objectively profile all athletes coming through the performance pathway.
“It’s a unique opportunity to be able to bring together the next generation of talent as we look towards the future and what we can do to best support the talent pool in Australia.”
Real-time feedback to club coaches, athletes and parents will also be provided during the camp to allow targeted focus and implementation into the daily training sessions.
