Dear Snowboard Community,

Snowboarding may be a mostly an individual sport when you’re out there racing and competing, but we all know that real success comes from the team behind you. From dry land training to on snow training, to competition days, it’s the people around us—pushing us, supporting us, and celebrating with us—that make the biggest difference.

There is an enormous crew over here in Europe this season. Just in SBX there’s roughly 20 riders from Australia competing in World Cup and European Cup this year and we have had amazing achievement at all levels, including our juniors.

This season has been incredible. Even though I haven’t yet had the individual success I’m reaching for, I’ve been incredibly inspired by the success of all our athletes not just on my team but at from everyone who is here in Europe. It’s not just in SBX either (shout out to Charlotte Wilson!). Across all of our teams we are seeing some fantastic results, we’ve seen individual breakthroughs and collective success all backed by our coaching and support crews. Whether it’s landing a first podium or top 10, or pushing each other in training, every achievement has been wonderful and I don’t think snowboard and Australian snowsports as a whole, could be in better shape heading into Milano/Cortina.

What makes this whole Australian team special is that we’re all working toward the same goal: becoming better riders, better competitors, and a better team.  All of our riders whether on the National teams or independent are stepping up in a massive way, and our coaches, wax techs, and support crew are making sure we have everything we need to succeed. Each piece matters, and together, we’re building something bigger than just results—we’re building a culture of success. That doesn’t mean we haven’t had injury, setbacks and disappointments as that is the other part, we are all here for each other in those times as well.

I know we've got something special here, and as we keep pushing forward, let’s take a moment to appreciate the strength of this team—on and off the mountain.  And of course a notable mention of our 2 mixed team podiums of Josie Baff and Cam Bolton, Gold in Erzurum and Josie Baff and Adam Lambert, Silver in Montafon. A big thank you to the support crews at home who sit up till all hours watching live timing and YouTube feeds to ride the emotions with us.

See you on the Snow!
