Snow Australia is pleased to announce the Snowboard Cross National Team for the 2024/25 season.

The team is stacked with experience including Olympic silver medallist Jarryd Hughes and SBX Team World Champion Belle Brockhoff along with Cam Bolton, Josie Baff and Adam Lambert who have 20 World Cup podiums between them.

Mia Clift had a breakthrough year in 2023/24 when she was named FIS Snowboard Cross female rookie of the year. Amber Essex made her World Cup debut last season and showed her form is strong with second place in this year's Australia New Zealand Cup on the back of a victory and two more podiums.

James Johnstone also made his World Cup debut last season and went on to finish fourth in the European Cup standings.

While Brockhoff has been named in the national team, she unfortunately sustained an arm fracture last month and will be recovering before resuming her campaign.

Newcomers to the SBX National Development Team are NSWIS scholarship holders Cameron Turner and Maya Billingham.

Cameron Turner was also the Snowboard Cross award recipient of the Emerging Talent Program (ETP) in the 2024 Community Sport Awards.

Maya Billingham shared that her camp experience so far has been the perfect opportunity for her to prepare for the season ahead, as she aims to secure a spot on the podium.

“The camp so far has been a great opportunity to get ready for the northern winter,” Billingham said.

“We have been able to develop team values and goals towards the season and share these to help each other throughout our time there.

“As well the airbag, skateboarding and gym sessions have been great to aid development and fine tune skills that will be used overseas.”

As a member of the SBX National Development Team, Maya is grateful for the opportunity to be able to represent her country and continue to develop her progression in the sport.

“Being on the NSWIS team means so much to me as it shows my small progressions in the sport and will continue to help with my progression towards the World Cup and the Olympics,” she said.

“It is also such an amazing opportunity to be able to represent my country under the national team.

“This northern season I hope to achieve a Top 8 finish in the Europa Cup overall, as well as a few podiums along the way.”

The NSWIS athletes are currently participating in a training camp at the NSTC in Jindabyne before they head overseas to commence competition at the European Cup tour.
