Australia's highly-successful 2023/24 World Cup season has been recognised with nominations announced in a number of leading categories for the 2024 NSWIS Awards.
In a year where the stars from Paris dominate most categories, the record-breaking campaign last season has been duly recognised.
The Snowboard Cross and Moguls programs have been nominated for NSWIS Program of the Year along with Canoe Slalom, Athletics and Women's Water Polo.
Within the Moguls program, Jakara Anthony has been nominated for Female Athlete of the Year following her triumphant 2023/24 campaign. In a year where female athletes dominated Australia's medal tally at the Olympic Games, Anthony is the only nominee in any individual category not to have competed in Paris.
She is up against Jess Fox (canoe slalom), Noemie Fox (canoe slalom), Lauren Parker (Para Triathlon, Para Cycling) and Saya Sakakibara (BMX) in her category.
Moguls mentors Peter McNiel and Kate Blamey are jointly nominated for the Coach of the Year Award alongside Myriam Fox (canoe slalom), Bec Rippon (water polo), Arthur Brett (sailing), Matt Hornsnell (athletics) and Misha Payne (Para Swimming).
“The NSWIS Awards highlight the dedication and success of our athletes, coaches, staff and support programs during what has been a tremendously successful Olympic and Paralympic year,” said NSW Minister for Sport, Steve Kamper MP.
“We’ve witnessed many historic sporting moments and I’m continually inspired by the determination, hard work and commitment of our athletes as they set new records and pave the way for future generations.”
The NSWIS Awards will be presented at a gala ceremony at The Star in Sydney on Monday 4 November.
