SSA Next Gen Performance Camp

The SSA Next Gen Performance Camp was held at Perisher this week, the first of its kind, all-female camp for Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross athletes.
Participants hailed the camp a huge success, with Olympians Belle Brockhoff and Sami Kennedy-Sim working with 11 Female Emerging Talent athletes.
Athletes had the opportunity to improve their skills on and off snow rapidly. The junior athletes were exposed to multiple High Performance resources, including on snow coaching, acrobatic coaching, sports dietetics/sports nutrition, sports medicine, performance psychology and high performance training environments.
Belle and Sami shared the varied roads they took to reach Olympic heights and the experiences that helped shape their pathway that took them to the elite level.
Both ladies were excited for what lies ahead for these young female athletes, who have a built up their own toolkits to take back to their regular training environments and out into competition.
In addition to the mentoring support from the Olympians, expert coaching from Jason Clauscen (NSW Institute of Sport Snowboard Cross Coach) and Shawn Fleming (OWIA Ski Cross Coach) was also on offer.
Athletes left the camp feeling empowered, motivated and excited about the sporting pathways that lay ahead.
One participant, Mia Clift, commented "I am so happy I was invited to this camp. I found it very valuable as I improved on many different levels and learnt so many new things."
The Next Gen Performance Camp is part of SSA’s Emerging Talent Program and is supported by the NSW Office of Sport with a Sport Development Grant.
