Earlier this week Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) delivered three Club Workshops with more than 80 coaches in attendance.

Held at Perisher Winter Sports Club, Thredbo Mountain Academy and Thredbo Ski Race Club, SSA staff together with NSWIS staff, were on hand to deliver a series informative sessions to kick start the winter season.

As part of Ski and Snowboard Australia’s commitment to the pathway and the belief that Australia’s Race Clubs should be pivotal in delivering best practices for athletic and sport development, SSA continues to implement its club workshop initiative.

Areas covered for the workshops included:

  • National Athlete pathway system (FTEM)
  • How to develop skills within the Club environment
  • How to identify and verify athlete talent within Clubs (and developing a ‘Club watch-list’)
  • Coach education, accreditation and the SSA Coaching Academy
  • Performance planning which provided:
    • How to develop a Club Toolkit
    • Covered the SSA/Club performance plan
    • How to develop Club Individual Performance Plan
    • Developing Program Plans (season and daily training environments (DTE)

SSA High Performance Manager, Ben Wordsworth, said the response to the Club Workshops has been fantastic.
