It was a weekend where Australian ski and snowboard riders collected podium positions around the globe in their respective FIS World Championships, World Cup and Para World Cup events.

SCOTTY JAMES BECOMES THREE TIME WORLD CHAMPION

On Saturday, snowboarder Scotty James took out his third consecutive World Championship title, setting down an early unbeatable run at Park City, Utah.

The win continues an incredible unbeaten season for James, which includes Gold at X Games and championships across Europe and North America.

In other Aussie results, young gun Kent Callister proved his class on the world stage landing 5th place in the men’s halfpipe finals, while Emily Arthur finished 18th in the Ladies' halfpipe qualifications.

DOUBLE DEER VALLEY SILVER FOR AUSSIE MOGULS

At the mecca of mogul skiing, Deer Valley (Utah) hosted the world’s very best mogul skiers for the 2019 FIS Freestyle World Championships, with PyeongChang Olympians Jakara Anthony and Matt Graham holding their nerve to walk away with a silver medal each.

PEEL JUST MISSES AERIALS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS PODIUM

Sitting in gold medal position with three aerial skier competitors left to come down the hill at Deer Valley in Utah, Laura Peel narrowly missed out on a medal at the FIS Freestyle World Championships.

Peel's score of 87.77 was not enough to secure a medal with Mengtao Xu rounding out the podium with her score of 89.88.

FIRST SBX WORLD CUP WIN FOR CAM BOLTON

Over the weekend, Australian dual Olympian Cameron Bolton claimed his first ever FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup title in Feldberg, Germany.

Lining up in the 40th start of his career matched up in a tough final heat against German pair Paul Berg and Konstantin Schad, as well as young Japanese rider Yoshiki Takahara, jumping quickly out of the left gate and into the lead before the first corner with the Germans hot on his tail.

Currently, Bolton sits fifth in the FIS Snowboard overall discipline standings with two World Cup races left in the 2018/19 season. To view full standings - click here.

FIS ALPINE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS GET UNDERWAY

Two Australian Alpine skiers have already been on show in Are, Sweden as part of the 2019 FIS Alpine World Championships with Olympians Greta Small and Harry Laidlaw 

Aussie FIS Alpine World Championships results to date:

  • Greta Small finished 25th in Ladies' Super G
  • Harry Laidlaw finished 37th in Men's Super G
  • Greta Small finished 20th in Ladies' Alpine Combined
  • Greta Small finished 30th in Ladies' Downhill

POLLARD PODIUMS WITH SILVER

Fellow teammate Ben Tudhope, narrowly missed out on the podium in both of his races, placing fourth in his two races but will take confidence from his consistent performances.

Pollard, Tudhope and Patmore now look ahead to their next World Cup stop at La Molina in Spain beginning 4 March and will be aiming for strong form to take into their World Championships later in the month.

PARA ALPINE
