St. Catherine’s School was the big winner of the Victorian Interschools Cross Country Championships at Mt Buller on Saturday 6 August, with overall wins in both primary and secondary girls school divisions.
Epic snowfall over the resort made racing difficult and the course was relocated to the Canyons Village Circuit to cater for the 600+ competitors, which ran in a time trial format with the endorsement of SSA’s Cross Country technical committee.
Geelong Grammar and Melbourne Grammar Schools were the stand outs of the day, winning the co-ed and boys secondary school divisions.
Geelong Grammar pipped Peninsula Grammar school with 49 points to 43.
While St Catherine’s School stormed ahead of MLC with 60 points to 44, and Melbourne Grammar School out-doing rivals Scotch College 65 points to 58.
In the primary school category, Melbourne Grammar School narrowly beat Falls Creek primary by just one point in the co-ed division, St Catherine’s completely owned the girls division with a big lead of 42 to 15 over Lauriston and MLC. While Scotch College cleaned up in the boys 15 points to 0.
