Strong start to 2020 for our athletes competing in the Northern Hemisphere

Published Fri 10 Jan 2020

Our Snow Australia athletes have kicked started the new year in sensational style, with plenty of action on the snow in the first week of 2020.

Para Alpine Skiier Patrick Jensen and guide Amelia Hodgson were the first Aussies to finish on the podium, claiming a bronze medal in the World Para Alpine World Cup event in Veysonnaz, Switzerland.

The event concludes on Sunday 12 January.

Our Para Alpine athletes will then travel to Liechtenstein for the Malbun Europa Cup event on 15-17 January.

CROSS COUNTRY

Cross Country Skiier Jess Yeaton has also had a great start to the year, finishing 38th overall at the Tour de Ski event, which ran over 9 days, 7 stages and 3 locations.

As only the second ever Aussie to tackle the challenge, Yeaton sat in 43rd place half way through the event, before some solid improvements saw her rise five places before the end of the tour.

Our Cross Country athletes are now preparing for the World Cup event in Dresden, Germany from 11-12 January.
