The Interschools Diaries by Lachlan Herring

Everybody should give Interschools a go. There is no harm in trying it, really. It’s always great to experience new things and gain experience in any way that you can.

I’ve been doing it since year 4, so that’s from 2014! To be honest, I’ve done it so often that this year it just feels weird not to be up there on the snow right now.

I love that you get to compete with friends from school and the environment is great. Not too much pressure - well, most of the time at least - which is good as well.

I usually compete in GS and Ski Cross. I remember when I participated in my first Interschools race, six years ago, and our team managed to come in second place. That’s definitely a great memory from #MyInterschools.

Skiing in a team is fantastic, especially if you have good teammates. I was fortunate enough to always be part of a positive environment where everyone is very supportive of each other. That way you feel less like you’re out there on your own and there is a lot less pressure put on you. Seriously, just do it!
