VICXC Training Camp in Mt Beauty

Over the weekend VIC XC Ski Team held its first residential training camp since 2019. The Mount Beauty Running Festival has classicly been a great training weekend for XC skiers of all abilities and it was excellent to have 13 athletes at this camp including national team, NSWXC members and local juniors join in with the VIC XC team. 

Athletes participated in the fun run across 3km, 10km and 14km events taking out a number of medals. This was followed by an afternoon training session on rollerskis including double pole technique, agility and a highly competitive game of roller netball.

Sunday's training involved a 2-hour run and pole hike in the Mount Beauty mountain bike park including ski striding and hill bounding technique. 

The camp was a great success with athletes getting to practice ski specific training in the lead-up to the upcoming ski season including discussions around pre-winter training and goal setting.  Most exciting was the number of new athletes to the VIC XC team which now had well over 20 athletes.
