Waddell ready for world stage

Aussie Freeskier Cameron Waddell has been working hard in preparation for his first World Cup event of the year.

Waddell will join his team mate Bailey Johnson in Seiser Alm, Italy for the event which kicks off on Friday 17 January.

The 20-year-old said that he’s feeling great ahead of the competition.

“Over the Christmas break I worked really hard on my fitness just trying to get as fit and strong as I can,” Waddell said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the bib and skiing with the boys,” he said.

Waddell, a NSW athlete, said that his journey to return to the world stage has been one that he’s had to work hard at.

“When I was 17 I injured my back pretty badly and had to take it easy for a while,” Waddell said.

“It took a lot of hard work to get back to competing but coming off a podium in a FIS event in New Zealand this domestic season, I’m feeling confident again competing on the international stage.”

Waddell and Johnson will commence their world cup competition at Seiser Alm on Friday 17 January.
