Weekend Wrap 18 March

Published Mon 18 Mar 2019

The snowboard cross season might be over, but Cam Bolton is riding high after he finished third at the Veysonnaz (SUI) World Cup – the fifth and final event of the 2019 season.

In the Big Final it was neck and neck early on, as the group of four navigated their way through the course’s steep top section. Lucas Eguibar (ESP) and Alessandro Haemmerle (AUT) then opened a sizable lead to finish first and second respectively.

The third-place result is Bolton’s second podium of the season - In February he won his maiden world cup at Feldberg (GER).

The string of good results catapulted the two-time Olympian to fifth in the season standings.

“Very happy to finish the season on a high with another podium, as well as finish top 5 in the overall rankings,” Bolton said on Instagram.

Also in action for Australia was Alex "Chumpy" Pullin, who finished 18th and Adam Lambert 25th.

More success for Mel Perrine

Para Alpine Skier Mel Perrine and Sighted Guide Bobbi Kelly added to their world cup medal haul across five days of competition at the La Molina (ESP) World Cup.

The pair won the first of two Giant Slalom events but slipped to third position in the third race. In the Slalom events they finished second on both occasions.

The good results added valuable world cup points to Perrine’s tally ahead of the world cup finals happening in Morzine (FRA) from 19-21 March. Perrine is currently ranked first in the Giant Slalom and second in both the Slalom and Super G.
