XC Leaders Forum

Published Mon 01 Oct 2018

Following on from the announcement of the XC Athlete/Coach Pathway Review in the winter, SSAXC is looking to hold two community XC Leaders Forums this spring.

The general purpose of these forums is to present and discuss the preliminary findings from athlete pathway consultations conducted throughout the winter. Forum topics will include an evaluation of the current cross country skiing athlete development model, experiences from past pathway programs, and alternatives for future pathway development and structure. The role of SSA, the States, Clubs and Interschools in both athlete recruitment and development will be explored. Preliminary ideas for a reorganisation of the coach education system will also be presented.

The first XC Leader Forum will be held at the SSA offices in Melbourne on Saturday October 13, the day after the AUSXC Season Launch / Fundraiser in Middle Park. The second will be held in Canberra on Saturday November 24. Invitations are being sent to key stakeholders in the athlete pathways, including the State XC Committees and Regional Clubs, other community representatives and individuals are welcome to attend.

Interested parties should contact Ben Wordsworth (bwordsworth@skiandsnowboard.org.au) if they would like to attend.
