XC Season swings into top gear at Falls Creek

Competitive Cross Country Skiing ramped up into top gear over the weekend with the Australian Sprint & Distance Championships and FIS Continental Cup at Falls Creek.
On Saturday the Sprint Classic events were held with Jayden Spring and Rosie Fordham on top after the time trials.
In the Men's Sprint, Spring was able to assert his ascendency through the rounds to claim victory ahead of Phil Bellingham and Fedele de Campo. Fordham also took her form into the elimination rounds to win ahead of Darcie Morton and Lily Murnane.
On Sunday it was the 15km Interval Start Freestyle where Fordham backed her sprint form in the longer format to win by almost three minutes from Darcie Morton and Hannah Price.
In the men's, three-time Olympian Phil Bellingham was too strong, beating home Liam Burton and Swiss visitor Christoph Gasche.
The weekend's results sees Fordham (200 points) on top of the women's Australia New Zealand Cup standings ahrad of Morton (160) and Price (111), while Bellingham (180) leads Spring (132) and Burton (130).
