XC Towards 2018 Fundraising Target Exceeded

Published Tue 14 Nov 2017

XC Towards 2018 is the major fundraising umbrella for athletes on the National Team, with all funds raised directly offsetting costs for team members competing overseas. Now with the SSA financial year concluded SSA is pleased to announce that the AUSXC yearly funding target has been exceeded, with nearly $33,000 raised from various projects and donations.

Auction and ticket sales from the AUSXC Cocktail Night in October contributed nearly $15K towards the funds tally, with special mention to major donors Falls Creek, Falls Creek Ski Lifts, Elk at Falls and Eastern Mountain Centre. Long-time fundraising event the Sundeck Cup contributed another $7K. The rest of the funds came from the Kangaroo Hoppet ski waxing and donations directly via the Australian Sport Foundation.

With SSA’s Pyeongchang campaign funding focusing on team support, the XC Towards 2018 funds will go towards athlete expenses, predominantly for World Cup and the World Junior/U23 Championships. Even with these funds, most team training and racing below this level is self-funded by the athletes. Additional donations are always welcome, with all funds raised between now and December 31 helping to cut costs for the 19 athletes racing overseas.
