Thredbo Ski Racing Club (TSRC)Thredbo Ski Racing Club was founded in 1972 and boasts a rich history of alpine ski racing in Australia. At its inception, its objective was to form a Club that was ‘active in organising, co-ordinating and encouraging ski races and ski training at Thredbo - with special emphasis on Juniors.’ The club is home to many Olympic and Paralympic athletes and is a proudly volunteer driven, private ski club. After an internal performance review in 2020, TSRC are committed to the long-term skill development of aspiring alpine athletes. The club prides itself on its professional approach to athletic development, seeing their role as a Snow Australia Pathway Provider to nourish talent targeting Snow Australia Emerging Talent Program (ETP) and National Alpine Ski Team (NAST) selection. The club’s core values of Performance, Respect and Responsibility ensure their members give the sport a higher level of commitment than ever before. TSRC include minimum on snow days, physical preparation and ongoing physical literacy education as part of their operations, as well as unique academic and well-being support systems. To ensure a skill-based focus to their athletic development, TSRC has partnered with a French Ski Academy for year-round continuity and training programming of its athletes. TSRC operates within F3-T2 on the FTEM model, meaning majority of its members are of school age. To ensure their athletes can achieve both on and off snow, TSRC has an Educational Assistance Program (EAP). This program offers in resort tutoring, ensuring parents and schools can manage their athlete’s academic expectations. In 2022, the club implemented the use of a wellbeing monitoring system, complementing the EAP, to ensure the holistic well-being of members is catered for. TSRC prides itself on it’s coaching staff. Program Director Craig Branch represented Australia at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Alpine. In 2020, Craig saw the global pandemic as an opportunity to secure, upskill and retain Australian coaches, utilising initiatives such as the Snow Australia Coach Academy. TSRC has a mix of Australian and International coaching staff. TSRC athletes compete in Snow Australia sanctioned events such as the Snow Australia Children’s Carnival and selected FIS events both in Australia and in the Northern Hemisphere winter season. TSRC is also proud to host a selection of these events annually. TSRC has established the TSRC Development Fund (Click Here) to assist Snowy Mountains families in accessing the sport, as well as subsidising training costs for their ETP and NAST athletes. |
