Alpine Director Update - April 2022
  Alpine Director Update

I hope everyone has enjoyed a productive summer, whether that was overseas skiing in North America and Europe, or here at home in Australia. It was an exciting time for winter sport with the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing and for Australia having their most successful Games ever. I would like to extend a huge congratulations to all those athletes who represented Australia in Beijing and let’s get ready for the next 4 years in the lead up to Milan/Cortina 2026!

Having said that, and with the ski season just around the corner, now is the time to start building up a solid foundation to allow for a productive training season. Proper physical preparation for the season ahead is our biggest opportunity to positively impact our on-snow development. Not only does it provide the engine to maximize skill development and our performances on the hill, but it will also increase our confidence and motivation to train each and every day. A little bit of sweat and hard work today is guaranteed to increase our enjoyment and smiles when we return to the snow with our clubs.

To assist in your preparation for the season ahead Snow Australia will be releasing its newly developed physical literacy program SnowReady in May. Stay tuned for more announcements about this exciting program.

We are currently working with our resort partners to finalise the competition and program calendar for the season ahead and hope to make an announcement very shortly, so stay tuned. Also, keep an eye out for your membership renewals which should be available in early May, make sure you renew nice and early to ensure you are ready for the season ahead and can register for Snow Australia programs and events without any issues.

Finally, the 2022 Snow Australia Awards will be held in Melbourne on Thursday 28 April. The Awards are always a great night and good opportunity for the Snowsports community to come together prior to the season. I hope you can join us and celebrate our athletes’ achievements. You will find more details below including how to purchase tickets

I look forward to getting out on the hill with you all this season and working within the clubs.

Shawn.
