When did you begin XC Skiing: | I first tried cross-country skiing in Year 6, filling a spot on my school's relay team for the Interschool competitions. I spent more time falling than skiing and nearly finished last in each race. Despite that, the experience ignited a passion in me, and I dedicated myself to rollerski training throughout the summer. It really paid off, and I even started to enjoy the challenge of skiing uphill! By the next year, my improvement was significant enough to place 2nd at State Interschools and I've been passionate about the sport ever since.
Why I love competing in XC Skiing: | I really love how cross-country skiing fuses my passion for the slopes with the endurance of sport. It's an elegant yet seriously challenging discipline. It really pushes you to your limits, both physically and mentally. There's something incredibly satisfying about crossing the finish line and just collapsing on the snow, utterly exhausted, knowing you've given it everything you've got.
